JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Associate Buyer
Location: Jenks, OK
Position Purpose:
To purchase and expedite assigned materials, equipment, and services.
Customers and Customer Expectations:
All requisitioners and suppliers of assigned materials, equipment, and services within business units serviced.
Purchase of goods and services which provide the best overall value to KC
Expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery
Gather information relative to source selection and competitive bidding situations.
Make recommendations on supplier performance, alternative sources of supply, etc.
Communicate information to the customer
Other Ad-hoc duties as assigned
Scope:
This person is responsible to provide value to the business units considering cost-to-use, quality, and service provided. The main challenges are:
Sourcing and supplier selection to ensure customer needs are fulfilled effectively and efficiently
Solicitation of quotations from suppliers
Create and maintain Request For Quote files and on-line summary
Negotiate assigned materials, equipment, and services, as required
Research and/or gather information used in development of supplier profiles and evaluations
Continue developing a working knowledge of applicable K-C policies, CFI's and procedures, as well as related governmental laws and regulations
Qualifications/Education/Experience Required:
Associate Degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Five or more years of office experience with functions relating to purchasing is typically required. Communicate effectively and timely both orally and in writing. This position requires extensive knowledge of SAP and MS Office. Current office practices and procedures as well as knowledge of the organization and its business policies and procedures are also required. Attention to detail, good organizational skills and
Dimensions:
Typically $2-$12 million of annual purchases for mill
Accountabilities:
Research, select, develop and maintain adequate sources of supply to ensure that the requirements for assigned goods or services are met with the optimum quality, service and cost to use. The Mill Buyer is expected to work with internal customers in these efforts and ensure negotiations are led by the appropriate procurement representative.
Manage our vendor network for assigned commodities to provide sufficient materials and services to meet our highest short-range requirements, protect against temporary supply interruptions and provide for our long-range growth needs.
Manage the ongoing performance of our vendors so that they conform to our specifications for price, quality, delivery, service and information.
Solicit competitive quotations and coordinate bid analysis in compliance with purchasing procedures.
Provide documentation and record-keeping of materials or services purchased.
Conduct project work to support other buyers or special initiatives as assigned by the Finance Manager.
Apply corporate policies and procedures pertaining to purchasing activities, as well as related governmental laws and regulations, to ensure compliance.
Develop and implement department commodities and supplier objectives and evaluate performance against same.
Develop and implement plans to resolve difficulties arising in the placement and delivery of purchase orders in an efficient and timely manner.
Prepare reports and/or analysis to improve departmental effectiveness, to provide information for managerial decision-making, and to organize data to fulfill project requirements. Conduct a timely and thorough annual Sourcing Strategy.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
